Paint Your Heart Out Tampa is a citywide volunteer event with a simple mission: restore dignity, pride, and beauty to the homes of low-income seniors, veterans, and disabled residents. The service is completely free to homeowners and made possible through community support.

From Nomination to Transformation
Each spring, our team and volunteers come together to make something incredible happen. The process starts with a single nomination and ends with a fully repainted home and a renewed sense of pride.

Homes Are Nominated
Community members, family, neighbors, or local organizations submit home nominations through our website. Each nomination is reviewed by our team to ensure it meets the basic eligibility criteria.
To qualify:
The homeowner must live in the City of Tampa, own and occupy the home, and meet age, income, or disability requirements.
Do you know a senior, veteran, or disabled homeowner in Tampa whose home could use a fresh coat of paint?
Homes Are Evaluated and Approved
Our team visits each nominated property to assess its condition, safety, and accessibility. Once approved, homes are added to the Paint Day list and scheduled for service.
Volunteers Are Matched
In the months before Paint Day, teams of 12 to 25 volunteers sign up and are matched with specific homes. Paint, brushes, ladders, and other supplies are prepared in advance by the organizing committee.
No experience is needed.
We provide everything each volunteer needs to complete the project successfully.
Paint Day Happens
Each spring, more than 2,500 volunteers gather to paint homes across Tampa in a single, coordinated day of service. Every home gets a full exterior paint job, often including trim work, repairs, and a thorough cleanup.
The Impact Lasts
The result is more than a freshly painted home. Homeowners experience renewed pride, volunteers make lasting connections, and neighborhoods feel the impact long after the day ends.
Since 1989, Paint Your Heart Out Tampa has painted more than 3,100 homes.
